For my latest 3 LOOKS post I’m talking about the Camel Drape Vest from Surafina – $129.00 an item that I have had in my online shopping basket for weeks.
I had been hunting for a camel vest or jacket for weeks. I think the colour is flattering to a wide variety of skin types and looks great with blue jeans and black, both of which I have copious amounts in my wardrobe. If you have read my previous blog post on my WARDROBE JOURNEY, you would know I’m on a journey of discovery of my wardrobe. I’m trying to wear more of what I already have and buy items that will compliment existing items.
In my search for my perfect vest/jacket I realised that maybe a vest would be the smarter option. As I live in Brisbane the winter season is short and even then not necessarily really cold. Now I have to put in a disclaimer here as this winter has been unseasonably cold for us Brisbanites – quite a shock to the system. But even as I write this the sun is shining and the weather has once again started to warm up.
I found this vest after seeing some gorgeous Surafina pieces on a few of the gorgeous ladies in their #everydaystyle posts on Instagram, I thought that I needed to investigate further. Surafina is a Brisbane online label with lovely pieces that cater for women of all sizes.
This week after a phone call from a lovely lady at Surafina, I decided that it was time to become a women of action and complete my purchase. Thank you to the staff at Surafina for the quick response and postage so that I could have my goodies for the weekend. I also purchased the Navy Cold Shoulder Dress if you hop over to my Instagram feed you will see how I wore this.
The Camel Drape Vest is a perfect trans-seasonal piece that I will be able to wear in winter by add layers and for spring less layers and more skin. I have tried to show 3 distinct outfits and let me just say it was a struggle to stop at 3, I kept thinking of more ways to wear this piece.
The weekend casual wear – the addition of a white shirt and a pair of blue jeans and booties makes it perfect. Jeans are my go to weekend wear – who am I kidding it is my everyday/every occasion go to wear. Thankfully I work in a relaxed workplace so the distressed jeans are always on the menu.
Lunch with the girls – I love an outfit of neutrals but some times it can look a tad bland. I have worn different tones on the same colour in the vest/skirt/shoes with a splash of white to keep it crisp. I’m wearing a suede look fitted skirt that I purchased yesterday from Catalog at DFO Brisbane. Being a SG – short girl fitted skirts like this can make me look extremely vertically challenged. I have found the trick is to wear a top that I can half tuck so I’m giving myself an illusion of length and also still gives me some coverage on my thighs. The addition of the vest was fabulous as it covered my problem areas but still allows me to have shape. I found these fabulous shoes at Famous Footwear (available 3 colours tan/nude/black) – only $69.95 and this also give me a bit more height. The big plus for these heels is the block mid height heel – get height but unlike a stiletto you also get comfort.
Date night – this outfit would be perfect for a night out, I have added a longer sleeve for the cool evening air. Black seems to be my safety zone colour when I comtemplate what to wear for a night out (but I have to say that navy is starting to make an regular appearance). I have added to the vest a faux fur collar (gifted) currently on sale for $49.00 from Surafina which just takes the outfit up a notch – this collar can be added to any vest/jacket/top.
What is your favourite trans-seasonal item in your wardrobe?
