Cold weather and jumpers are a match made in heaven.

But not those ones from your childhood that were ill fitting and scratchy usually either a hideous colour or pattern, one that had been made for you by your Nan or Aunty that you had to wear for family gatherings or the matching  one you and your sister would wear on Christmas Day.

After the horror of the childhood knitted jumpers things have come a long way, a very long way! Now you want to wear them and the scratchiness is a thing of the past.

Knitted jumpers come in so many different options fitted, oversize, long or short sleeve, bulky and fluffy.

I find that for me the best knits are those that are slightly more fitted and don’t add too much bulk to my frame. I’m on the short size and a bulky knit while I love them can make me look shorter and wider than I am and NO body wants that.

That is why this knit from Metalicus is the perfect shape and fit for me.

It’s light (but being 100% cotton is still warm) hits me just below the waist and has a slight scoop neckline.

I usually just add a pair of jeans to my favourite knit for a great weekend look but I think that this is really pigeon holing it in the style stakes.

So I have styled Metalicus Star Jumper in 3 different ways below to show how versatile knits can be.

The first look I have channelled how it is shown on the model to show that it works just as well as for someone 162 cm with generous boobs, butt and thighs as it does on a tall slim model.

Now before I go any further let me talk about how fabulous these Metalicus Kylie Pull on Jeans are – they are straight leg (I have folded mine up for a more streamline look) with an elasticized waist band.

As with all Metalicus clothes these are super comfortable with the right amount of stretch. I know that some of you don’t like the elasticized waist in jeans but I have to say these are fabulous they finish on the waist and as they are elasticized there is no issue with them cutting into you at the waist. They really are like a denim version of ponte pants – comfortable and versatile.

look 1

I do love the simplicity of this look – the black jeans let the jumper be the star (yes it is a really bad Dad joke) of the outfit.

look 2

Layering the Star Knit over the top of a fitted t-shirt dress with a pair of statement sneakers is fun and comfortable and perfect for the weekend.

look 3

Adding a shirt under a knit is a great way to create another layer – I have added a sleeveless shirt so not to create too much bulk in the arms.

I love grey and white together, with the chambray shirt it breaks up and adding tan is a great accent colour.

  • Love the jumper layered over the shirt with our favourite white jeans Karen. The tan just makes the whole look gel.
Funny how styles/patterns come back around, I can remember friends having ‘star jumpers’ in the 70’s – yep I’m very old 😉 xxx

    • I not going to lie I remember star jumpers from my childhood- I’m close behind you in the age stakes 😭 If you keep anything long enough it comes back in style

  • I love wearing jumpers with a white shirt underneath with the hem sticking out. Look 3 is definitely my favourite. I agree with what Bev says about the tan accessories 🙂

    • The shirt underneath definitely creates interest and yes tan accessories are my favourite- always think there is a real freshness about them.

  • Great post Karen

  • Oh you’re a superstar! Love the last look. Crushing on those shoes xx
