I’ve been on a bit of mission to embrace colour more in my daily posts, this has been in some way inspired by Kimba from Kimbalikes. Kimba always wears colour and print with such confidence and pizzazz that I decided to step away from all black, white and nude.
So when I was recently contacted by Carmen from Vizcosa in regards to receiving a kaftan to feature in one of my 3 Looks posts, I took this as confirmation that colour and print did indeed need to become part of my everyday wardrobe.
Carmen actually sent me two Vizcosa kaftans a long one and a short one.
Today I’m talking about the Portofino Short Kaftan $149.00 this is made from sheer breathable Polyester Georgette with an embellished neck. The gorgeous print was inspired by the popular holiday destination of Portofino in Italy. I will be talking about the stunning long kaftan next week so stay tuned!
In my wardrobe I have only ever owned one kaftan and this one was purchased on a whim and only worn once, so I was quite excited about adding a couple more to my wardrobe.
I must admit in the past I have tended to pigeon hole a kaftan for holiday wear only now while the are the ultimate holiday dressing I think it is a shame to not wear them in your everyday life. Living in Australia I think that we can definitely incorporate kaftans into our daily wardrobe, we have such a fabulous long hot summer they are the perfect fit.
In my 3 LOOKS post I have tried to show how they can be worn for 3 different occasions.
LOOK 1 – I have added a white slip under the kaftan as it is a little bit sheer, added a pair of tan wedges and I think this could easily be worn for a multitude of occasions Christmas BBQ’s, shopping, lunch with the girls to name a few.
LOOK 2 – I have added my favourite pair of white Seed jeans, tan wedges and ilysa Honey Jewellery Bergamot Gloss Pearl necklace $65.00 – adding the white jeans is perfect for those nights when we have a cool breeze, this is now perfect for a date night with the hubby.
LOOK 3 – The typical kaftan wear bikini and flats, perfect for sipping cocktails by the pool. This kaftan is a sheer fabric but I’m wearing a dark brown bikini and it is not too obvious. It does provide you with confidence as I don’t always feel super comfortable walking around in my bikini but this is so easy to throw on and gives me a little bit of cover but still shows glimpses of skin.
A little bit about Vizcosa it was founded by Carmen Rivas is Australian owned, her passion for travel and flowy resort wear inspired her to create a range of kaftans that are named after some of the exotic destinations she has visited or is dreaming about visiting.
I think what sets apart Viscosa Kaftan’s from some other kaftan’s is that they are not a ‘one size’ fits all – they cater for all women from Petite (size 8 – 10) through to Plus (size 24 – 26). They also offer the ability to customize a kaftan size and length on request, so you will never have to accept a kaftan that doesn’t fit and doesn’t make you feel fabulous.
Vizcosa do not mass produce their kaftan’s so there are only limited quantities of each print. They are made from either non sheer silk or sheer breathable polyester georgette perfect for our Australian Summer and in price from $65.00 for a beach cover up to $249.99 for a long kaftan.
