It’s been a couple of weeks between posts – life sometimes gets too busy and you need to take time to look after yourself and just slow down.
I work full time in an office and my free time is extremely full with my beautiful family and my blog.
My blog and Instagram is where I allow myself to indulge my creative side and fashion and everything associated with it. But being that it is creative outlet I need to be in the right head space to post, my personality is very much about going with my feelings.
So I listened to my body and just took a break and spent Tuesday nights (my usual blogging nights) spending time with hubby watching movies and loved every minute of it. But the inspiration started and I’m back behind my keyboard and loving it.
A couple of Saturdays I was lucky enough to be involved in a swimsuit photo shoot for Sequins & Sands it was a full on fun day (I will be talking about it on the blog in the coming weeks), we also added kaftans over our swimsuits and it got me thinking.
Kaftans are usually associated with the beach and holidays and while they are perfect for your next beach holiday they don’t just need to be only be worn when there is sand between your toes.
Kaftans are great to be worn everyday too!
They are the perfect everyday dress – light and flowing which means they are super comfortable for Summer.
Brisbane is already experiencing hot weather 30+ and it is only the start of Spring – I’m thinking that it is going to be a long very hot Summer. I grew up in Darwin so I’m used to long hot Summers but the hot flushes have started to make their presence known in the last couple of year so any clothes that create air flow are very much appreciated.
So below are my picks of Kaftans currently available and I’ve picked pieces that should appeal to all budgets – cheap & cheerful, Mid price and Investment piece.
1. Cheap & Cheerful
The Caicos Kaftan from Sequins & Sands is bang on trend with the cold shoulder cut outs – I love Off the Shoulder tops but sometimes I just can’t face wearing a strapless bra so the cold shoulder is a fabulous option as I can wear my normal bra. This kaftan comes in a couple of different prints, I’m wearing the black one below and I love the contrast white trim. It also comes in a black floral print (below) and a fabulous leopard print (this will be making a appearance on instagram in the coming weeks). The fabric of this is a little sheer so I have just added slip dress for stop any underwear flashing.
2. Mid Price
If you haven’t checked out Adrift you need to -they are a local Brisbane label that make the most fabulous clothes and accessories in the most gorgeous colours and prints. And sizes range from SM to 3XL so cater for all women. I picked the Christie Kaftan as I just fell in love with the romantic colour palette, this would work perfectly with a nude pair of wedges and straw bag for a multitude of occasions.
Purchasing a Camilla is an investment and one that I’m yet to make but I’m still hoping to add one to my wardrobe. What I love about the Camilla kaftans is not just their gorgeous unique prints but its all the different ways you can wear them. You just need to head to the Camilla website to see ‘How to Wear‘. For me I think Camilla is not only an investment piece but also a special occasion dress.
