Winter is just around the corner – it’s less than a month away and I’m getting excited.
I grew up in Darwin, so most of my childhood was spent in bathers, shorts and thongs.
I dreamt of wearing layers! In the dry season, when the humidity didn’t make you sweat just standing still, I would tug on a pair of jeans at any opportunity. A jacket didn’t figure very highly in my wardrobe and leather jacket definitely didn’t exist.
Now, living in Brisbane, I finally get to experience winter (I know for you Melbournites it is a very mild version, but I love it!).
My lust for a leather jacket is never ending, but as our winter is short and I’m battling hot flushes at the moment (I’m quite often hot and then cold and then hot – doing my head in), I don’t necessarily want to spend a huge amount of money on jacket and decided that the pleather jackets that are now available would be my best option.
Quite often when I set my mind to a certain item of clothing I can’t find it anywhere.
So imagine how excited I was when I found not one but two fabulous pleather jackets within a week.
I went down to the shops on Saturday to get my nails done and walked past Katies and this tan biker jacket immediately caught my eye.
This jacket is the most gorgeous colour, like warm butterscotch, and features lovely stitching details along the bottom and arms.
Pleather has come a long way in the last couple of years. It is now super soft with the added bonus of being easy to maintain, marks wipe off easily.
Tan is one of my favourite colours to wear in winter (I consider it a neutral) and is the perfect foil against black and denim.
This jacket is true to size and is available in sizes 8 to 20 – I’m a size 12.
Another huge positive with this jacket is the price $89.95 and until the 8/5/2017 all Katies jackets are 30% off.
Styling this jacket is endless
- all black outfit with a statement necklace or scarf
- shirt, jeans and killer heels
- white tee, jeans and white kicks
- patterned dress with tights and knee high boots
I have styled the Katies jacket below in the first two ways.
Katies Biker Jacket with Stitching Detailing $89.95 but until 8/5/17 30% off | Lamington Ave Classic A-line Jersey Dress with 3/4 Sleeves $189.00 * ( this dress is the perfect layering piece) | Zara Boots purchased off eBay
The black biker is such a classic style of jacket and one that become iconic after Marlon Brando wore it in the 1953 film ‘The Wild Ones’.
This style never dates and will give a slight edge to an outfit – it will work equally well with a pretty dress as it will with your favourite pair of jeans.
This Feather and Noise Miller Biker Jacket is 100% polyester but, as I said above, the fake leather jackets are now just gorgeous, soft and light to wear.
This features silver hardware and a removal belt which I love as it adds layers and interest.
This comes in sizes 8 to 14 – I’m wearing a size 14.
Now unless you’ve been living under a rock you would have heard of Afterpay by now. This is a new payment option that resembles a layby but the difference is that you get the items straight away and make 4 payments over an 8 week period. I love this option (one that I have used multiple times) especially for an online retailer where layby is not usually an option. Feather and Noise are now one of the many retailers that offer this payment option.
The standard way to wear this jacket would be with a tee and jeans but I’ve decided to show it worn in a couple of different ways to show the versatility of it.
From super casual weekend wear, with drop crotch pants and kicks, to date night with a bright dress and heels.
Feather and Noise Millers Biker Jacket $149.00 | Hunt + Kelly Lou Lou Maxi Dress one size $125.00 * (completely obsessed with the colour of this dress – this is a relaxed fit I have knotted the hem to shorten it on me slightly) | Frankie 4 Nikki Heels $220.00 *
