You would know by now how much Bev – Iris May Style and I love all things Birdsnest. They really are a one stop shop for everything fashion from clothing to footwear to accessories.
Today’s LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT post features the Birdsnest brand Bird Keepers. This brand is all about classic foundation pieces that you can build your wardrobe around, something that Bev and I love.
Now Bev and I always have fun choosing pieces that we want to feature in our LATSOI posts. We so often gravitate towards the same pieces but every now and then one of us will suggest a piece that the other may not have thought of. And because we trust and now each other’s style we will happily just go with it.
Bev found today’s piece a Curved Hem Midi Dress in Navy (also comes in biege) $119.95 *.
I love this dress! Working full time means I’m always on the look out for double duty dresses – ones that I can wear to work and with a change of accessories wear out. This one is perfect for work, classic but still stylish and then add a pair of statement heels and it transforms for dinner out after work.

Just some of the reasons for choosing this dress are listed below, Bev just nailed it and it perfectly suits both our body shapes.
- It has a v neck so flattering on a larger bust
- We both prefer a longer sleeve to cover our generous wings
- The option of belting it – for me I like to define my waist as it is the smallest part for me
- The midi length meant it worked for both of our heights

FIT
This dress is a lightweight linen rayon blend with a hidden zip at the back making it easy to get into.
The description of this dress is a relaxed fit but for me I found it a little bit more fitted around the bust area but not too tight and then it had a nice amount of room everywhere else so it still showed shape but there was no pulling.
This works perfectly now with our warm weather but as it cools you could easily add a denim jacket as Bev has done below or even add a striped long sleeved body suit for a slightly different look.
For everyday I would keep the accessories neutral with tan and a little touch of leopard print but would swap those out with killer red stilettos and a red handbag for a bit of a pop colour for dinner out.
