Today Hubby emailed out our family Secret Santa invites (with a big family individual presents aren’t an option) as I laid next to him in bed I was slightly horrified – one that he’s so darn organised and one that Christmas is getting closer. I don’t even want to know how many days there is to Christmas but I’m not ready for the craziness that is the holiday season.
It’s already October, summer is just round the corner and I think it’s going to be a hot one.
While I’m not prepared for Christmas (I saw Christmas decorations in Kmart last week – NOOOO!!) I am already on the lookout for cool clothes that will get me through those hot summer months.
And one of the things that I’m on the lookout for is natural fibres that breath, styles that are comfortable and also versatile for different occasions.
Summer months seem to mean lots of socialising, so I need options and usually those options are dresses cool and easy to throw on and easy to mix up the look with just changing accessories.
So when looking for our next Long and The Short Of It post these factors where high on the list.

Now it has been a couple of months since our last post – very slack I know but to be honest it’s been crazy busy for both of us. And sometimes you need to give yourself a free pass to take a break.
But we are back into it and for those first time readers the reasoning behind these posts is to show how items look on different heights and body shapes. Bev had a brain storm a few months ago about how it would be great to show the same item on both of us. Now sometimes as I’m a bit shorter I will alter lengths to get the perfect length but I will always let you know if I have done this.
Bev is a classic pear shape while I’m more of an hourglass shape and we have 10cm height difference. This can make a huge difference in how clothes can fit.
I have listed our heights, shoe size and clothing size – for this post we both stayed with our usual size for all pieces.

- Height – 5’3″ or 161.5 cm (the 0.5 cm always counts)

This dress can be worn with heels or flat sandals or even kicks.
You could add a denim jacket if out in the evening and it was a little chilly and you can wear with or without the belt.
This dress has a lovely shape to it doesn’t look like sack when worn without a belt, in one of the photos below I swapped out the fabric below for a tan below just for a little more contrast.
Now in all my photos below I’m wearing new season Frankie 4 EDDiE heels $219.95 *. I went in store to their Indooroopilly store last week to check out the new season and totally fell in love with these heels.
They are made from butter soft leather and as with all Frankie 4 shoes packed with support and the 80 mm heel totally feeds my love of heels perfectly.

√ It’s a shirt dress, I could just about stop there to be honest always a flattering style to wear
√ Navy such a great alternative to black in the summer months

As with the above this dress works just as well with heels as it does with flats/sneakers.
The other huge plus about this dress is that while it looks fabulous as a dress you could also wear this open as a long duster over white jeans and cami.
