We are in the middle of the Spring Racing Carnival with the Melbourne Cup only a couple of weeks away.
This Melbourne Cup I’m actually going to do something special – the first Tuesday in November is usually spent working and organising the Office Sweep. But this year I’m getting glammed up and heading up to the Sunshine Coast to the Green Zebra Restaurant for a Cocktail and Style Event.
After the excitement had worn off the first thought that stuck me was what am I going to wear and I’m sure I’m not the only one facing this dilemma so I thought I would share some of my research so far. I’m still undecided yet as to what I’m going to wear but I do love to have multiple options available to me.
With Race Day dressing it is not just a dress you need you also need a fascinator of some sort whether that be a hat, floral headpiece or some form of exotic headwear, shoes and a bag. This can all add up so finding a dress that doesn’t break the bank is a my first priority.
So I had to check out Little Party Dress – it is one of my go to websites for affordable fashion with all items under $100 and I know I can rely on great service and super fast postage.
I have listed below my options for affordable Race Day outfit covering multiple trends.
The all white trend is a classic race day look – you can choose to keep the accessories nude or you can use the white as a blank palette to add some bright colourful accessories think feminine floral fascinator.
Both the dresses below also tap into other popular trends lace and off the shoulder.
Olivia White Lace Dress $79.95 available in sizes 6 – 16 (also in black)
Amanda White Off the Shoulder Dress $69.95 available in sizes 6 – 16
Now I think for a lot of us the Little Black Dress is a go to for a special occasion, it seems to feel instantly dressy and I always feel like I have suddenly gotten slimmer a great confidence booster if not an optical illusion.
Moonlight Black Dress $69.95 available in sizes 6 – 16 and also in white.
Samantha Black Dress $69.95 available in sizes 6 – 16 and also in white.
Now blue is not normally one of my colours but I’m loving it at the moment in all its different hues. I’ve picked both ends of the colour and style spectrum below from a bold strapless royal blue frill dress to a soft romantic floral dress in pale blue.
Marlow Blue Dress $79.95 available in sizes 6 – 16 and also in black
Kesley Blue Floral Dress $74.95 available in sizes 6 – 16 and also in a navy print
The wrap dress is one of the most flattering dresses for any women no matter what her shape or size. This is the style that I’m leaning towards for the Melbourne Cup as I love the cross body neckline and the flowing nature of the skirt. Both of the floral prints would be perfect and will work with a few different fascinators from floral to a metallic crown.
Rachel Green Floral Wrap Dress $69.95 available in sizes S – XXL and also in a white print.
Sharon Nude Floral Wrap Dress $59.95 available in sizes 8 – 16 and also in a navy print.
Wearing lace always has a dressy feel about it and is perfect for the races but sometimes price can be a deterrent to purchasing one. The two I have picked below are gorgeous, race appropriate and affordable.
Romance White Lace Dress $79.95 available in 6 – 16 and also in navy.
Mary Pink Lace Dress $79.95 available in sizes 8 – 16.
Now I know that jumpsuits aren’t the usual race attire but if you are looking for something completely different why not try one of the jumpsuits below both are still race day worthy.
Linda Navy Stripe Jumpsuit $69.95 available in sizes 8 – 16.
Bella Floral Navy Jumpsuit $69.95 available in sizes 6 – 16.
