Lately I have been getting multiple use from my button up shirt dresses in my wardrobe by wearing them open as a longline vest.
So for this weeks MID WEEK LOVES I’m showing the latest shirt dresses that I’m crushing on for the dual purpose of dress and long line vest.
I’ve picked dresses from LESS $49.00 for a cute khaki dress from Target to LUXE $149.95 for white shirt dresses from Sussan Fashion and Witchery.
I love the any item that gives me versatility, I love love clothes but I also don’t have an unlimited budget. If we ever win lotto, the sky is the limit but until then it all about getting full use of everything in my wardrobe.
As a real women I have blessed with a decent pair of thighs and wearing a shirt dress open as a vest enables me to streamline my shape and hide those areas that I don’t always want to draw attention to.
It’s also a great way to add some layers and interest to an outfit.
Below are 2 ways that I have worn shirt dresses as a vest in the last two days.
Day 2 – Witchery Shirt Dress, French Connection pants and Forever New Heels.
Now I just have to clarify – these photo’s were taken one day apart but the sun did some funky things with my hair this morning and made me look like I have gone grey overnight.
THE WHITE DRESS – if you follow me on instagram you will know that I’m slightly obsessed with white jackets, my wardrobe contains at least 5.
The white shirt dress as a vest gives the same look as the white jacket but by choosing the below two sleeveless dresses from Sussan’s and Witchery you get a cool look (and I also mean as cool in not hot and sweaty) for the warm months ahead.
White is also such a fresh clean look and great basis to build an outfit on.
Maxi Shirt Dress – Sussan $149.95
Pocket Shirt Dress – Witchery $149.95
In my Day 1 look above I have worn a chambray dress as vest and layered it with denim. This is a bit of a twist on the normal double denim look and I don’t think you can ever wear too much denim.
The below dress from Jeans West is linen and would make it very light and breezy for the warm weather, whether you choose to wear it as a dress with a pair of gladiator sandals or as a vest with all white look underneath.
Lastly the LESS option – this great little dress from Target. Khaki is such a gorgeous colour and looks great with denim and tan accessories.
