I’m sure I’m not alone when I say life is busy.
So when Rachael from Ruby and Lilli contacted me regarding doing a Mother/Daughter photo shoot I jumped at the chance.
I take photos every weekend for my Wednesday blog posts – this is usually just me and hubby.
So the chance to shoot photos and spend time with my girl was a huge (massive) bonus. We both work full time – she is one of the most amazing, caring and gifted primary school teachers I know (and I’m not biased). Even though we do exercise together a couple of times a week, spending any time with my girl (actually any of my 4 children) always makes me very happy.
I’m at my happiest when I have my children around me – being their mother really is one of my greatest achievements. To see the beautiful, caring and accomplished young adults they have become fills me with joy and a lot of pride.
We have had our fair share of trying times – I became a single mum when my youngest was 3 and oldest was 13, we lived in a caravan for 11 months while I went through a divorce and finished building the house that we had started. During this time I also studied so that I could find a job that could support my family. It wasn’t always a fun couple of years but even through all the trials I knew we were blessed we were healthy and we were together. I also had an extremely supportive family that even though they didn’t live in the same state they supported us emotionally and financially. Unconditional love is the cornerstone of our family.
And now to make life even better hubby and I (we have 7 children between us) are starting to fill our families with grandchildren a whole other world of blessings.
So back to our Mother/Daughter photo shoot.
We decided to pick one tee from the last Ruby and Lilli range and style it for casual and dressy wear.
Molly and I are a completely different body shapes. I’m large chested with smaller hips and vertically challenged, Molly is smaller in the chest area with a small waist and average height.
Tops with V necks work better for me – I need to break up the chest area, if I wear a loose top I tend to wear a bottom that is slightly fitted to show shape and stop myself looking bigger than I actually am.
For Molly swing tops are a perfect fit – the swing nature of the top helps to balance out her bottom half. She can also tuck them into a flowing skirt, this emphasises her tiny waist.
Karen wearing – Tidal tee $69.00 (size XS) this is a two tone tee black with white stripes on the front and white with black stripes on the back made from 100% cotton with a relaxed high low hem.
Molly wearing – In the Navy $59.00 (size XS) this has a round neck with a relaxed swing fit made from 100% cotton.
For the dressy looks:
Molly – A-line floral skirt and nude wedges.
