Off duty dressing for me is all about relaxed comfort and usually a touch of denim or stripes or prints. I love a heel but tend to leave these for working where I don’t have to do a lot of working. For off duty it’s all about comfort so this usually means flats. I do struggle sometimes with finding flats that I’m comfortable wearing and give me style as well as comfort. But a pair of kicks, sandals or flat ankle boots seem to be able to make the cut for comfort and style.
I think off duty dressing can also be a chance to be a bit relaxed about what you are wearing – think drop crotch pants| kicks with a skirt| shirt around the waist| jumpsuit – to name a few.
Below are four of my Instagram everyday style Off Duty outfits.
I have put together a few Off Duty Dressing suggestions from the latest new season stock available in store and online from a few of my favourite stores. As you will see it is heavily waited in denim as this is always on the wardrobe menu for that the relaxed and casual look.
Cotton On is a fabulous place to pick up some fabulous items at some great prices. They tend to stock all the trends but at affordable prices.
I think fringing and tan suede is going to be everywhere this spring/summer as the 70’s trend infiltrates new season dressing. I’m not sure yet if I’m ready for the all over fringe/tan look so the backpack below is a great compromise. It is still getting on board with the trend in a fun but subtle way.
As I’m a huge fan of denim in all its many forms I don’t think you can go past the distressed jumpsuit with a pair of kicks for the perfect off duty look.
Now one trend that I have really fallen in love with is the shirt tied around the waist. The first time I tried this my girlfriend did ask me if the shirt was just there as an accessory or if I was actually going to wear it. What I love about it is that it creates a waist and some shape to an outfit and it also is great at disguising those areas that we are sometimes self conscious about butts and thighs.
Sussan Fashion one of the stores I always visit when I go shopping. It has a fabulous variety of casual and work wear that seems to fit into my lifestyle and also has some great accessories. And don’t get me started about there sleepwear, it has become the a regular Mothers Day present over the last few years.
I think every Off Duty wardrode needs a great denim jacket – this is such a versatile item that can be used right through all the seasons.
Backpacks are making a comeback this spring/summer and as a mum I think anything that enables you to have free hands it always a plus.
A colourful patterned scarf is a way of adding some colour to an plain outfit and with the warmer weather soon to be upon us (this may be wishful thinking on my part) a trilby is a great addition to any off duty outfit.
Bohemian Traders has fast become one of my favourite online retailers and are the ultimate in cool off duty dressing.
They have released a new Bohemian Basics collection this season and I’m loving all of it, with many items on my spring/summer wishlist.
The new spring/summer version of the very popular drop crotch pants are a must have in your off duty wardrobe. The material in the new version is lighter and softer than the khaki ones that I’m wearing above in my Instagram everydaystyle post. The chambray and natural would both look perfect with either a plain white or a striped tee and adding the rope belt will give an added layer/texture.
The chambray dress is a great weekend look and perfect for the up coming warmer months and can be worn with a kicks/sandals/escadrilles.
