Do you have a colour that just make you feel amazing every time you wear it?
A colour that people always comment on how good it looks on you?
For me that colour is RED – the brighter the better.
It’s not a colour that I have always worn but as I’ve gotten older I’m drawn to it more and more. It now has the ability to lift my mood and has become a bit of my signature colour.
I thought I would share a couple of the pieces that I’m currently crushing on.
Witchery Stitched Blazer on sale $129.95 (wearing a size 12) | Uberkate Cocktail rings Lazuli & Amethyst $195.00 & Ubercircles Large ring necklace $245.00 (Lazuli & Ubercirle were my birthday presents from hubby – how spoilt was I)
It was the perfect choice to wear to my recent birthday lunch, I took the day off to go into the city to spend the day with hubby and I had a couple of outfit ideas and then this gorgeous Witchery blazer arrived the morning of my birthday and it ended up straight on my back.
I had lusted over this blazer when it first arrived in store but was not quite willing to pay the $279.95 that it cost. So imagine my delight when I just happened to come across it online in the sale section, it was an instant add to cart moment.
If you read yesterdays post you will now how much I love a good blazer (read it here) they are just so easy to style. For my birthday lunch I just added my old favourite Sussan distressed jeans, white shirt and a pair of tan heels.
Now this red dress from Little Party Dress was a no brainer for me, I knew as soon as I saw it that it would work perfectly for my shape.
I have curves and quite a few extra ones at the moment 😛 – as I have reached my 50th year I have noticed that my metabolism (which has never been great) has slowed down, darn you menopause and also darn you chocolate addiction. But my shape is such that no matter what I weigh I still have a waist so showing that off is always an advantage for me.
The other factor is that I have big boobs so clothes that are too loose can tend to make me look round. Learning to dress for my shape makes such a different to how I feel.
This dress has a fitted bodice, a clinched waist and flared skirt the material has a slight stretch which makes it comfortable to wear and a little forgiving. The flared skirt has just enough fabric to skim but not too much that it adds unnecessary bulk – I have enough junk in the trunk without adding more.
This dress with its bold print really needs few accessories – so I have just worn my usual Uberkate favourites and a pair of nude open toed booties.
Do you have a signature colour, one that attracts compliments whenever you wear it?
