Tomorrow is the 1st September and with that officially the first day of Spring.

Last weekend I did a wardrobe overhaul with my girl and we were ruthless going through everything I own and also packing away the majority of my winter clothes. This may have been a little premature as it has still been a little chilly ever since (Ok for my southern sisters I KNOW its not really chilly but for us Qlders there is definitely a nip in the air).

So now that I’ve organised my wardrobe I can see what is missing or what I would love to add. I have to admit to a feeling of relief to know what I have, I think that now I will actually be able to wear more of my wardrobe.

And one thing that I really want to add to my wardrobe is a RED DRESS – red just works with so many things I already own denim jacket, white kicks and tan shoes.

Now it is no secret that I LOVE red. And this Spring/Summer it is going to be big, you have no idea of how happy this makes me.

Red and its many shades and hues have been making its presence know for a couple of months already – just check out how gorgeous Carrie Bickmore looked on the Project recently in asymmetric dress from Keepsake Label here and and my post a couple of weeks ago on beautiful red pleated skirt.

The high end designers are also including red in their collections at David Jones recent runaway designers such as Scanlan Theodore and Bec & Bridge showcased gorgeous red pieces.

But I do know that not everyone is as comfortable wearing red as I am and so for your first foray into Spring Red you don’t want to spend a lot of money. So to encourage you to step outside your colour comfort zone I’ve searched through The Iconic and found two Red Dress options for under $100.00 that would be perfect to dip in your toes.

What I love about this dress is that it caters for women from sizes 6 -22 – Vanity Cold Shoulder Wrap Dress Curve | Vanity Cold Shoulder Wrap Dress both $89.95

Another huge plus for me is that has the feel of an off the shoulder dress but the top still allows you to wear your normal bra.

This cute little shift dress is the perfect cheap and cheerful dress at only $69.95 would be perfect for the weekend with flats or kicks or with a pair of heels for a night out. The frilled sleeves just add a little bit of fun to a plain shift dress.

Flute Sleeve Shift Dress $69.95 – sizes available 6 to 14.

Now if you still not sold on the idea of red dresses click here for some more dresspiration from the Iconic.

I haven’t worn red for years. Mum used to dress me in red when I was a toddler because of my colouring, and she didn’t like pink. I have to confess I really don’t like the cold shoulder styling, I have a few and I always feel like they make my arms look bigger or something. I love OTS though, so maybe I am just strange. Love the frilled sleeves on the second dress. I saw a lovely red dress in Millers a few months ago, had a lovely fitted shape and featured zippers on the hips, if I worked in an office I would have grabbed it. Carrie always looks lovely doesn’t she, seems such a nice woman. x
