This blog post is slightly different from normal I’m typing this from my hotel room in Sydney (I have flown down for a work trip).

The day was spent setting up for an expo that I will be at for the next couple of days and I have just come back from 3 hours of walking around Sydney (we did stop for dinner and some amazing Cream Puffs in China Town – they were only $0.35 each and filled with warm custard).

Now I did wear my Frankie4 ELLiE for all that walking and it was only the last 100 metres that I my feet told me I needed to sit down. So I’m reclining in my bed with my laptop, a chocolate and a drink and typing away.

My usual routine is planning what I intend to write about the week before and then I take my photos for my blog posts on the weekend and write the post Tuesday night. I also try and wear on the Wednesday whatever I have actually blogged about. This Wednesday will be slightly different, if I wore either one of the below dresses I would look fabulous but a tad overdressed.

This year has flown by and Spring is only 2 weeks away – yes September really is just around the corner.

With Spring the need for a special occasion dress quite often arises with Spring Racing Carnival and  apopular season for weddings and engagement parties.

I love a pretty dress as much as the next person but as these dresses quite often only get worn once or twice per season I dislike spending a lot money.

I have written about Little Party Dress before, I have quite a few of Kel’s fabulous items of clothing (don’t let the name fool you can buy a wide range of clothing from jeggings to jumpsuits).

I have picked two dresses that I think would be perfect for any special occasion you may have coming up.

Candy White Dress $69.95

I love the simplicity of this dress – with its fitted bodice and flaired skirt I felt very feminine and I think perfect it would be perfect for a day time event.

This dress is such a blank canvas you have so many options – here are few if you were planning on attending the Spring Races:

Derby Day – traditionally black and white, all you need to do is add a pair of killer black heels, either a black hat or fascinator and a clutch.

Oaks Ladies Day – tends to be very feminine so this dress would be lovely to wear just add a floral or lace headpiece and then keep the other accessories in nude tones.

Below I have kept to the nude accessories for my below look – Feather and Noise Universal Heel Tan $179.00 (Feather and Noise now offer the After Pay Option – like layby but you get your goodies straight away), Seed Clutch (from a couple of years ago).

Now if you have a large chest (I’m a 12E) my advice is to size up – I’m wearing the size 14 and it is perfect fit across the chest.

Briana Navy Dress $59.95

Navy is always a great alternative for black in Spring, slightly softer but the dark colour still sits in the comfort zone.

The Briana dress is one of Little Party Dresses most popular – it comes in multiple colours and prints (see more colour/print options here).

After trying this on I see why, it is such a flattering fit even Mister 16 told me I looked nice (teenage boys don’t always notice these types of things so I was pretty chuffed).

This dress has quite a sexy feel about it so I had to add leopard print accessories to amp it up just that little bit more.

My accessories also have black in them now I know that some don’t like the black and navy colour combo but I like the slight contrast. If you don’t try adding tan or nude accessories always a great match for navy.

This dress is quite true to size – so stick to your normal size (I’m wearing a size 12).

Do you have Spring Event coming up – if so where are your favourite places to shop?

  • both these dress were gifted to me for Editorial consideration.

  • Really love both dresses but white wouldn’t last five minutes with me, I’d better stick to the navy! (Which I am totally loving more and more these days)

    • Bleach is my best friend with white clothes but I usually only get one wear, if anyone is going to spill something on their clothes it will be me.

  • You look fabulous in both dresses Karen. White and tan have always been a favourite of mine and so is navy. Both looks are divine on you. Hope you’re having fun in Sydney town xx

    • sorry for the late reply – life has just gotten in the way (exhausted pigeon). I love any dress with tan accessories they always just seem to compliment what ever you are wearing not matter what the colour.
